Amazon UK
I have been prattling about Amazon UK to whomever would listen for a couple of weeks now, and here's why. "The Godfather Trilogy: Coppola Restoration" is $80 from Amazon US, and S$99 in stores here, but £15.53 (after VAT) from Amazon UK. The entire Monty Python movie collection is £9. The West Wing Box Set (all of which I purchased season by season for around S$350) is £47. Any number of great movies are selling for £ 3. The UK economy must be in real strife - I've never seen such prices for so many great items. So go and grab what you can while they've temporarily lost their mind.

Drowned in the Amazon last night. 300 dollars worth of drowning. I am going to need a man-cab to haul all that stuff when it arrives in the office next week.
ReplyDeleteWhat'd you get?
ReplyDeleteI got loads of stuff man - british shows (peep show, mitchell & webb look, bit of fry and laurie, IT crowd), movies (big lebowski, godfather restoration, lil miss sunshine, network, mean streets, superbad, alfred hitchcock 14 movie box set) and the dune TV series. Enough for a looooot of weekends, and cheaper and healthier than alcohol
ReplyDeleteoh, and the monty python movie collection
ReplyDeleteI got books. Lots of books. Shakespeare, Conan Doyle, Austen, De Tocqueville, Naipaul, Mortimer, Murray Bail, Penguin History, LOTR collectors' edition, etc.
ReplyDeleteNice! That's quality shopping. Is the Dune series good? I started watching the old movie but couldn't take it.
ReplyDeleteit's quite good man - very faithful to the book so far (I've seen about a third, till the time the Duke gets killed and they flee to the desert). The acting is a bit wooden but not bad, really.
